EVERGREEN 2026
The EVERGREEN series was created by photographing the large collections of seaweed washed ashore on Sydney's beaches in the aftermath of recent violent summer storms. The images' file information was then corrupted and recombined to create new images which illuminate the tension between the natural world and the results of the intersection of climactic and human forces.
Evergreen explores the results of the images’ tonal inversions that turn familiar shoreline debris into fabricated bioluminescent life. Whilst the wreckage of organic forms largely remain recognisable specimens, their saturated colours are reminiscent of historical paintings which depict defiance in the face of turbulence and conflict.
